Largest volcanic region on Earth with 91 volcanoes found under Antarctica

IMG_0514.JPGWith the volcanic peak ranging from 100m to 3,850m in height, this is the largest volcanic region on Earth.  With its 91 volcanoes under Antarctica ice, geologists say the newly discovered volcanic range has similarities to east Africa’s volcanic ridge, currently acknowledged to be the densest concentration of volcanoes in the world. The 91 volcanic peaks situated in the West Antarctic Rift system were discovered during a remote survey made by researchers from the University of Edinburgh. But it is still unknown if the volcanoes are active. Antarctica remains among the least studied areas of the globe. Maybe we will soon discover what is the cause of the mysterious wave anomalies coming from the icy continent……Read More

West Coast Seismic Alert: 2 Alaskan Volcanoes Erupt As Earthquake Swarms At Mount St. Helens Raise Concerns

Volcano-Erupting-Full-Moon-Public-DomainMount St. Helens, Mount Rainier and Mount Hood are all major volcanoes that lie along the infamous “Ring of Fire” that runs down the west coast of the United States, and all of the seismic activity that has been taking place in the region has many concerned about what may happen next.  Earlier this month, I wrote about how 45 earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater hit Alaska in just one 24 hour period.  This week, it is volcanic activity that is raising concerns.  The earthquake swarms at Mount St. Helens are making headlines all over the globe, and on Tuesday two major volcanoes in Alaska suddenly erupted on the exact same day…..Read More

The Ring of Fire is Heating up: 37 Volcanic Eruptions Right Now and Many Others Showing Increased Seismic Activity

Latest volcanic eruptions:

Last eruption took place in July 2016. A New eruption of the crater of the South East at Etna Volcano, Italy Shortly after 18h, on April 26, 2017, activity took over on Mount Etna. Europe’s Most Dangerous Supervolcano Is Waking Up; 500,000 Lives At Risk

one-of-the-worlds-largest-supervolcanoes-is-stirring-500000-lives-at-riskEurope’s Most Dangerous Supervolcano Is Waking Up; 500,000 Lives At Risk

When Mount Vesuvius erupted and buried the Italian city of Pompeii in ash, killing 2,000 people, it was regarded as one of the most catastrophic natural disasters and is still studied heavily today. By comparison, a nearby supervolcano called Campi Flegrei, which means “burning fields,” would put the lives of 500,000 Italians at risk and cause damage that would extend to the surrounding nations. Campi Flegrei has been around for many years and has notable eruptions that occurred 39,000 and 12,000 years ago. The first eruption is thought to have contributed to the extinction of the eNeanderthals; though this is heavily debated, what’s indisputable is that it caused heinous weather changes, toxic levels of sulfur in the air which caused dark red sunsets for a year, and tons acid rain. In the most recent eruption, the supervolcano erupted for 8 days straight and formed a new mountain, aptly named Monte Nuovo. Read More

Major Eruption Imminent? Earthquake Swarms Reported At Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier And Mt. St. Helens

imageIs an eruption of one or more of the major volcanoes in the northwest United States imminent? In recent days, very large earthquake swarms have been reported at Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. It is certainly not unusual for each of these volcanoes to experience earthquake swarms from time to time, but right now we are seeing this happen at all three volcanoes simultaneously, and this comes at a time when seismic activity along the Ring of Fire is on the rise all over the planet. If you have followed my work for a while, then you probably already know that I have been consistently warning that an eruption of Mt. Rainier is coming, and of course Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens are exceedingly dangerous volcanoes as well. If any one of the three were to erupt on a massive scale, it would instantly become the biggest news story of the year. Read Article

Costa Rican colossus Turrialba volcano spreads ash across capitol city San Jose after strong eruption

imageThe strong eruption by volcano Turrialba at the 01:19 local time affected a great part of the Costa Rican capital, which got up Thursday covered by a thin layer of ashes. Television stations transmitted images of the exact moment of the explosion, with a column of smoke and ashes, gases and other materials. The Turrialba is 3,340 meters high, the 2nd highest in Costa Rica after the Irazu volcano, with 3,432 meters, and the experts stated that after this eruption, which lasted 11 minutes, the volcano went back to its passive state. Most of the affectations were located in the Central Valley, particularly San Jose, the capital, and the smell at sulfur was still present, just as ashes in the air. Sulfer can be seen being released from the eruption on the earthwindmap, what is also very interesting is massive sulphur dioxide from the Nicaraguan Concepcion volcano at the same time Read Article

Global Catastrophe Imminent: “Asteroids, Robots and Engineered Viruses Will Kill Millions”

Nuclear warThere is yet more confirmation that near-certain doom is headed for planet earth, and could kill or disrupt the lives of everyone on the planet. And there’s reason to think it could be in our lifetimes. A study commissioned by Oxford University identified possibly-imminent catastrophe from asteroids, AI, volcanoes, nukes/EMP or manufactured/weaponized disease sweeping the planet. And yet we’re the conspiracy theorists… According to the Daily Mail/Press Association: In the next five years asteroids, super volcanic eruptions and unknown risks are ranked as the biggest threat to humanity.[…] It may sound like the stuff of sci-fi films, but experts said these apocalyptic threats are more likely than many realise…[…] In the longer term, the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) has been listed alongside catastrophic climate change, nuclear war and pandemics as a threat to humanity. The biggest long term threat to civilization is natural and engineered pandemics and nuclear war […] the rise of synthetic biology could open the door to the creation of “off the shelf” deadly viruses. The report, which focuses on global approaches to address these looming dangers, and a worldwide integration of efforts, reminds us that we are all too mortal, and that devastating pandemics have indeed occurred throughout history: Read Article
