Top Russian Official: UK would be ‘wiped off face off the earth with ONE STRIKE’

THE UK could be “wiped off the face of the earth” if it dares to launch a preemptive nuclear strike, according to threats made by a top Russian official. Frants Klintsevich, deputy head of the Federation Council’s Committee for Defence and Security, said Britain was so small that it could be obliterated in one nuclear strike. He was responding to comments made by Michael Fallon in which the Defence Secretary said Britain would consider launching a preemptive strike on a nation if pushed. Frants Klintsevich, deputy head of the Federation Council’s Committee for Defence and Security, said Britain was so small that it could be obliterated in one nuclear strike. He was responding to comments made by Michael Fallon in which the Defence Secretary said Britain would consider launching a preemptive strike on a nation if pushed…….Read More

Civilian deaths from Russian airstrikes ‘highest since Aleppo’s fall

IMG_0201The death toll from Russia’s fierce bombardment of Syria has shot up over the past two months, coinciding with regime ground offensives, and despite a ceasefire officially being in place. Civilian deaths in Syria from Russian air strikes are at their highest since the fall of rebel-held Aleppo to regime forces in December according to one monitoring group. According to the UK-based Airwars – which specialises in monitoring and assessing civilian casualties from international air strikes in Syria, Iraq, and Libya – heightened civilian death tolls have come in the context of ongoing ground assaults – led by the Assad regime – against rebel forces in Aleppo, Hama, and Idlib, which Moscow has backed with aerial campaigns……..Read More

Russia unveils its newest Arctic base

IMG_0173Russia has unveiled a new military base as part of its buildup in the Arctic region, and has provided a tour — albeit a virtual one on your computer. According to a report from FoxNews.com, the base is located on Franz Josef Land — an archipelago north of Novaya Zemlya that the Soviet Union seized from Norway in 1926 — and is known as the “Arctic Trefoil” due to its tricorne shape. The base covers roughly 14,000 square miles and can house up to 150 people for a year and a half. The National Interest has reported that Russia has developed new versions of several systems for a cold weather fight, including the SA-15 Gauntlet, the T-72 main battle tank, and an artillery system known as Pantsir-SA. A version of the SA-10 modified for Arctic conditions is also being developed…..Read More

Russian embassy’s Twitter account vents barbs against west

IMG_0109Tirades against western leaders dovetail with wider Russian propaganda that some fear could influence the outcome of upcoming European elections.  On Sunday morning, the official Russian embassy to the UK Twitter account posted a photograph of flower petals in Sochi lit up in the sunshine. But it soon moved on to politics. “It is deplorable that @BorisJohnson found himself unfit to stand Western ground on Syria in bilateral talks with Sergey Lavrov,” the embassy said, in reference to the foreign secretary cancelling a planned visit to Moscow while US secretary of state Rex Tillerson goes ahead with his. It illustrated the tweet with a painting of the charge of the Light Brigade, when Russian gunners decimated British cavalry during the Crimean war……..Read More

Russia KNEW about Syrian gas attack in advance – and about a bid to cover it up by bombing hospital treating Assad’s victims, say U.S. officials

IMG_0097The United States has concluded Russia knew in advance of Syria’s chemical weapons attack last week, a senior U.S. official said Monday. The official said a drone operated by Russians was flying over a hospital as victims of the attack were rushing to get treatment. Hours after the drone left, a Russian-made fighter jet bombed the hospital in what American officials believe was an attempt to cover up the usage of chemical weapons. The official said the presence of the surveillance drone over the hospital couldn’t have been a coincidence, and that Russia must have known the chemical weapons attack was coming and that victims were seeking treatment……Read More
