The Days Of Jesus’ Coming: Prophetic Ensigns, Banners, Standards, Signs, Trumpets, And 2nd Exodus Part 1. Jer 4:21 “How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?” In Jer 4’s prophecy, a standard and a trumpet were employed for Nebuchadnezzar’s apocalypse against Judah and and their exile. The same prophetic signs and allegories are markers for end-time prophecies also pertaining to Judah and Israel.
My approach to prophecy includes all relevant passages utilizing a literal interpretation; then placing those verses around what Jesus said; not visa versa.
My approach does not leave out inconvenient passages. It does not exclude Israel, Judah and OT prophecies, while defining allegory from within the Bible.
I utilize Matthew as the base for Jesus’ Word on prophecy; then overlay additional details provided by Luke and Mark onto Matthew’s accounting.
Luke’s account for Jesus’ return aligns with Matthew and Mark, but adds additional information for before and after the abomination and about the signs (Luke 21, Matt 24:15; Rev 12:6) .
Luke adds the consequences of these signs will cause distress in the nations; confusion, and the oceans/seas will be roaring and crashing against the coast lines.
LUK 21.25 “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring”
Mat 24:29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken”
Luke begins the the Rapture events with men’s hearts failing from fear for events and signs befalling them, and the terror already occurred in the first 3 ½ years.
Luke 21:26 “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.”
Luke 21:26 and Mat 24:29 noted the powers of the of heaven will be shaken just before Jesus comes. Power, “G1411 Doonamis” means force, supernatural power(s), might, violence, miracle, and mighty works.
The supernatural power and might of heaven will be shaken aligns with the timing for antichrists crowning, and the war in heaven at the 3 ½ year point. No wonder men’s hearts will fail.
Dan 8:10 “And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.
Dan 8:11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.”
Rev 12:7 “And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”
Rev 12 ….”Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
Jesus instructed in Luke that this is the time for the saints look up for redemption draws nigh; a time mark by Jesus’s great sign for all to see in the sky.
Jesus wants us to know the chronology of events, approximate timing, and the signs, so that we do not miss His is coming through confusion because of antichrist.
Many will be confused, perplexed (Luke 21:25) because they will believe antichrist is the Messiah; even the elect will be deceived if that were possible (Matt 24:24).
Luke 21:27 “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
Luke further adds that Jesus said Rapture will be one of the “days” of Jesus coming; not just for Rapture that is first, but for 2nd Exodus, and also for Armageddon.
Luke 17:22 “And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the “days of the Son of man,” and ye shall not see it.
Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in “the days” of the Son of man.”
The days of Jesus in Luke are connected to a special time just after the mid point of the last 7 years: the “days of the 7th trumpet” when the mystery of God is finished.
Rev 10:7 “But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.”
The first of the days of the Son of Man, in the days of the 7th trumpet, is marked by spectacular lightening seen worldwide; from one side of heaven to the other.
Lightning is not the complete sign that declares who Jesus is to the world. Jesus’ sign marks the time of wrath is about to begin, Rapture for true believers in Jesus, and a message to awakened lost Israel and fleeing Judah who their Messiah is.
Luke 17:24 “For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”
Mat 24:27 ‘For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
MAT 24.30 “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven”
What will the sign be? I will cover this off in Part 2. But, because the sign is important not only to Christians, but to Israel and Judah as well, we will examine what the OT recorded about events associated with Messiah’s sign.
In the Isaiah 18 prophecy an “ensign” will be raised in the end time for the entire world to see; accompanied by a “trumpet blast(s)” late in the first 3 ½ years.
Ensign, “H5251 Nec” is a flag, a sail; by implication a flagstaff, generally a signal, and figuratively a banner, signal, a standard, or sign employed as a rallying point.
Ensign is rooted in “H5264 Nacac” meaning a conspicuous signal, a beacon, an ensign. The Isa 18 ensign is an OT prophecy for Jesus’ sign, and for His coming.
ISA 18.3 “All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the mountains; and when he bloweth a trumpet, hear.”
Isaiah prophesied the world-wide sign accompanied by trumpets will be seen before the end-time harvest (Mat 13), as a beacon and a signal for a specific people.
The ensign is a signal for awakening lost Israel, a people scattered, and to Judah around the world, to rally to Jesus’ 7 shepherds for Exodus led by their Messiah.
ISA 18.5 “For afore the harvest, when the bud is perfect, and the sour grape is ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooks, and take away and cut down the branches.
ISA 18.6 They shall be left together unto the fowls of the mountains, and to the beasts of the earth: and the fowls shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.”
ISA 18.7 In that time shall the present be brought unto the LORD of hosts of a people scattered and peeled, and from a people terrible from their beginning”
Mat 13:38 “The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
Mat 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.”
In this spirit of ensigns and exodus, Isa 11:10-12 identified whose “ensign” will be seen from one end of the earth to the other: the root of Jesse, Jesus.
Isaiah 11 testifies Jesus’ ensign will be indeed a rallying point for Israel, Judah, and for Gentiles who believe in Jesus and follow and God. When Jesus comes, He comes for Rapture, then Exodus, and then Armageddon in the “days” of Jesus.
Isa 11:10 “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.
Isa 11:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush…
Isa 11:12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”
Micah 5 linked the gathering of abandoned outcasts, (lost) Israel, and Judah to Jesus: to that of the One born from the woman in labor (Rev 12:2 & 5).
Mic 5:2 “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
Mic 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth”
Rev 12:2 “And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.”
Rev 12:5 “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne”.
Micah 5’s end-time Assyrian/Antichrist surrounds Jerusalem (Luke 21), which leads to abomination. At that time 7 shepherds are raised for Exodus.
Mic 5:5 “And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.”
Luke 21:20 “And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
Luke 21:21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.”
Further, Mic 2 identifies Jesus as the One who leads Israel to the desert, as King, Lord, and Messiah to meet fleeing Judah after the abomination, just as Isa 11:10-12 recorded the root of Jesse gathers the exiles of Judah and Israel.
Mic 2:12 “I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise…
Mic 2:13 …and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.”
Isa 49 expands on Jesus’ end-time ensign/sign when Jesus lifts His hand to the Gentiles and His standard to the people, when Israel is restored.
The standard seemingly is re-established at the beginning of the millennium when kings will bow down to all Israel and Judah as Jesus’ people.
Standard derives from “H5251 Nec” as does ensign. One presumes then this millennium standard/ensign is the same used for 2nd Exodus and Rapture.
Isa 49:22 “Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
Isa 49:23 And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.”
Isa 62 describes the spectacular end-time splendour of the world-wide Exodus. Highways will be prepared from the ends of the world in direct defiance against antichrist’s empire bolstered by demon and fallen angels.
A Standard will be raised, an ensign proclaimed world-wide, when Israel and Judah will be called the “holy people” redeemed by God, as promised in His Covenant.
Isa 62:10 “…go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.”
Isa 62:11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Isa 62:12 And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD.”
Deut 30:3 “That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
Deut 30:4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: Deut 30:5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it.”
The standard/ensign/sign occurs after Antichrist destroys Babylon. Jer 51 marked the timing with the prophetic markers: the standard and the trumpets.
Antichrist’s destruction on Babylon is another deception to bolster Antichrist’s credibility and resume as the (false) messiah, which deceives even the elect, and thus confusion when Jesus’s sign appears.
Jer 51:12 “Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.”
Jer 51:27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her.”
God’s people, Israel, Judah, and Christians are instructed to come out of Babylon in the end-time, so as to not receive the destruction ordained for Babylon.
Jer 51:45 “My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.”
Rev 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”
Isa 13 is the beginning to the prophecy of Isa 14, which begins with the burden of Babylon, when a “banner” is lifted, and when Babylon and the Assyrian are punished. Banner also derives from “H5251 Nec” (ensign & standard).
Isa 13:1 “The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.
Isa 13:2 Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.
Isa 13:3 I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.
Isa 13:4 The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle…
Isa 13:6 Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.”
The destroyer/Antichrist of Jer 51 destroys Babylon after abomination, and just after the 3 ½ year point (Rev 14:8), when the 10 kings hand power over to antichrist.
Rev 14:8 “And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Rev 17:16 “And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
Rev 17:17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.”
After Babylon’s destruction, comes the Year of the Lord’s favour described in Isa 61 and Luke 4, where Jesus frees the captives for 2nd Exodus before Armageddon.
Isa 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn
Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives…Luke 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Jesus comes back for more than Rapture and Armageddon. The days of the Son Of Man includes 2nd Exodus as Jesus unites His bride in preparation for the millennium
Isa 54:5 “For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
Isa 54:6 For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
Isa 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee”
Isa 54:8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
Rev 19:7 “….for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.”
Part 2 will link the ensigns, standards, banners, days of the trumpet, and the days of Jesus back to Jesus’ sign in Matt 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21.
