Killer whale nibbles on stunned paddle boarder off N.Z. coast

A paddleboarder got more than he bargained for while out cruising the water when he encountered a killer whale, who tried to take a bite out of his board. Luke O’Reilly, owner of Luke’s Kitchen in Kuaotunu, north of Whitianga in New Zealand’s Coromandel peninsula, was on the beach on Monday when locals spotted a pod of orcas swimming nearby, hunting stingrays. The 27-year-old grabbed his board and GoPro and headed out to the water, where he was quickly surrounded by six orcas who took particular interest in the businessman, with one even attempting to nudge him off his paddle board.
