Mystery radio waves from space could be ‘produced by alien technology’

th-1Mysterious sounds from outer space that bear remarkable mathematical patterns are baffling scientists – leaving some convinced they can only be the result of extraterrestrial life. Bursts of radio waves picked up by astronomers apparently follow a mathematical pattern, causing experts to speculate that it is being caused by “an artificial source – human or non-human”. Telescopes have picked up the so-called ‘fast radio bursts’ since 2001. The waves were last detected by a telescope in Australia in 2014, but experts are still confused by what could cause them. Lasting just a few seconds, the bursts still manage to emit the same amount of energy that the sun releases in a whole month. But it is believed they must emanate from small stars estimated to be hundreds of kilometres across at most – much smaller than ordinary stars. Read Article
