Australia: Tropical Cyclone “Marcia”Storm intensifies, tracks towards Queensland coast

6144476-3x2-340x227Tropical Cyclone Marcia is expected to intensify into a category two system before hitting central Queensland early Friday morning, bringing high winds and flash flooding. Large parts of Queensland are bracing for intense rainfall as the storm, currently about 650 kilometres north-east of Bundaberg, heads toward the coast. Marcia is expected is expected to cross the Capricorn coast near Yeppoon, north of Rockhampton, and the weather bureau’s warning zone has been extended from Mackay to Double Island Point, north of Gympie.
